After HoursSteak in the neighborhood
by Cathryn Jakicic
Tucked into the hominess of downtown West Allis, Steakhouse 100 comes by its neighborhood feel naturally. It has the feel of an old-fashioned supper club, where many of the patrons are regulars and rest are made to feel like they are. Service is efficient and friendly.
The dining room is spacious with burgundy carpet, a high ceiling, and well-spaced, white-clothed tables. Table conversation from other tables including businesspeople and a family group with a toddler was unobtrusive. There is a bar area next to the dining room, but neither the patrons nor the television created a noise problem.
Steakhouse 100 is located on the corner of South 73rd Street and West Greenfield Avenue. Two walls of the dining room feature nearly floor to ceiling windows with a view of the activity on Greenfield Avenue. Tinted transparent shades rather than drapes muted the midday sun.
The food, ranging from steaks (naturally), sandwiches and seafood, was well-prepared and promptly served.
Reservations are taken, but just dropping in for lunch is probably safe. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. Dinner only is served Saturday. Steakhouse 100 is closed on Sundays, which are reserved for banquets and private parties.
